VOLUNTARY

A conservation easement is a voluntary agreement between a landowner and a qualified organization, such as SDALT, to protect certain resources by restricting specific developments or future uses.

INDIVIDUALLY TAILORED

Every conservation easement is unique, tailored to the specific piece of land and the conservation values of the landowner. This allows farmers and ranchers to maintain their property as productive land, and at the same time meet their conservation goals.

AGRICULTURE-DRIVEN

SDALT was formed by farmers and ranchers, to serve farmers and ranchers. We provide tools to conserve South Dakota’s agricultural heritage and working landscapes for the benefit of future generations.
